Filesystem resizing gone wrong! The admin was trying to resize the root filesystem from ~7.2G down to 5G, but in so doing managed to break something. After the resize, he wanted to allocate the remaining free disk space to LVM and create a new 1G LV mounted to /data as an ext3 filesystem.
